SteveB the cook top came with just enough coating so it wouldn't rust in the box. The surface is heavy rolled steel. There is a frame of 1" square tubular steel tack welded on the underside to prevent it from flexing when it's heated. The surface reminds me of a lodge cast iron, it's not silky smooth, it's rough enough that it grabbed the lint from my rags that have been laundered several times when I was applying the oil. It seasoned beautifully with flax oil.

Steve B the biggest "draw back" to this design is not have side walls on the griddle plate. When it comes to scooping up food side walls can be a tool that makes it easier. That said, mastering the use of dual spatulas is not that difficult and the second spatula in the opposite hand is just as effective as a side wall once mastered.

You have a major problem in that picture...you need more bacon grease! Lol.

Got a link, Steve? I searched several different combinations and came up empty. Thanks.

It's awesome i am just getting in to it. 45,000 BTU between 3 burners. The cabinet it sits in is not thick steel but if it's going to be in one place you will be ok. When i seasoned it i was able to see how even the heat is on the surface and if i set the outside burners to med they run the same as the middle loop. The price is right buddy, thats a crazy deal. 🔥🔥🔥❤️🐿

I want to compliment you on observing the heat pattern during burn in/seasoning. I can't tell you how many people I've encountered who complained about "uneven" seasoning, not realizing that the griddle was teaching them about hot zones, and cooler zones that are useful cooking tools. Even when explained they still don't get it......................argh!

MsTwiggy I go through avocado oil - that is what I keep my squirt bottle filled with. I like it as it does not smoke at most temps you will use a griddle at. When I make bacon, I use the bacon grease left behind to do my hash browns and eggs in...

jfmorris Avocado oil is great! It's my go to cooking oil but it's a tad expensive for having so much end up in the grease cup. I also have a bunch of tallow from the last brisket I cooked so that will come in handy too - i bet taters will be good in that!! 🔥🔥🔥♥️🐿

MsTwiggy when I am doing fried rice and veggie stir fries, I doubt I ever have any oil reach the grease trough or cup on my griddle. The only cooks where I get enough oil on there to reach the grease cup are if I am doing burgers or bacon, where the grease is cooking out of the meat.

Once your griddle is fully seasoned, while you need a little oil for certain foods, you should not be using so much that it is running off the griddle and wasted.
